Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

1. Any communications to or from the Governor or the Office of the Governor concerning the events at the University of Texas, Austin on April 24, 2024 and/or April 25, 2024.

2. Any communications to or from the Governor or the Office of the Governor concerning demonstrations, protests, or events at any public university or college. This request is limited to records generated on or after January 1, 2024.

3. Any communications to or from the Texas Military Department Public Affairs (including any person employed by the Texas Military Department Public Affairs) concerning the April 24, 2024 and/or April 25, 2024 demonstrations at Texas universities, including UT Austin and UT San Antonio.

4. Any statements provided to media by the Texas Military Department Public Affairs or its officials concerning the demonstrations on April 24, 2024 or April 25, 2024, and any draft versions of those statements.

Please also note that this request seeks public records wherever they may be found, including on devices or networks owned or operated by private parties. For example, if an employee uses a personal cell phone or social media account to conduct public business, records created, maintained, or held on the phone or account are public records subject to this request.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Please clarify the following terms/items in your request:

- Items 1 and 2 ask for "any communications to or from the Governor or the Office of the Governor"; please define what group(s) of employees your request applies to. Once we receive a defined group of employees, our agency can send search requests to those individual members to conduct a search for responsive records but do not have the ability to run a blanket search of communications to/from all employees

Your narrowing or clarification of this request does not preclude you from making future requests for additional information. After we receive your response, we can begin a search of our records for the information you are seeking. If we do not receive a response from you by the 61st day after the date this email is sent, your request will be considered withdrawn. See Govt Code ยง 552.222(d), (g). The withdrawal of your request does not preclude you from requesting the same or other information in the future.
