Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act., I hereby request the following records:
Any and all written and electronic communications, including email messages and text messages, sent or received by then-chief ethics officer April Perry that reference or refer to the Jussie Smollett case. You can read more about that case here: https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/2-top-foxx-aides-resign-from-states-attorneys-office-2/81211/ This request seeks records that contain any of the following key words: "Jussie", "Smollett", "recusal", "recuse", "resign", "resignation", and/or "Empire". This request seeks records produced between January 29, 2019 and April 20, 2019.
I am a reporter for The Nation, The Guardian and other media outlets.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
