Mr. Schiano,
Thanks for your open records request. I could use some clarification so I make sure your request gets to the correct agency. Most of the records you are requesting look to be under the custody of the Denver Police Dept and Denver Sheriff Dept. Did you intend to send this to City Council? Are you interested in City Council records/communications in that you want to see what Council members have related to this shooting or the individuals named in your request? Or should your request go to the Police Dept and Sheriff Dept instead? As the Executive Director of City Council, I can only address requests for Council records but I’m happy to forward your email to the records coordinators at the DPD and DSD. Please let me know what would be most helpful to you.

Thanks, Janna

From: Christopher Schiano

Janna,

I am specifically requesting any communication that City Council members have had with any of the previously named individuals or organizations. The title of my request was made in error, and I apologize for any confusion stemming from that. The nature of my request could be described as "communications between police union representatives/members and City Council members" within the dates named in the request - December 1, 2014 to August 18, 2015. The list I have provided in my initial request is simply an enumeration of the various names and email addresses associated with police unions - people/groups whom if they contacted city council, that communication would fall under my request.

My understanding is that, for example, an email between a police union representative and the city council would be a record held by the city council.

I very much appreciate your timely response, and please let me know if I can help you to further clarify this request.

sincerely,
Christopher Schiano
