To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

All documents pertaining to the Bureau of Justice Assistance's $1 million grant to Detroit law enforcement. The grant was described by the Justice Department in July 2020 as an "approximately $1 million BJA grant awarded to local law enforcement to assist in gun and gang violence prevention" and was awarded through Operation Legend.

This will include all documents that describe how this BJA funding will be allocated. These documents could include "Contract Control Sheets," pricing documents, requisition documents, invoices, or payment slips. These documents could also include privacy impact assessments, use policies, standard operating procedures, data retention policies, legal opinions, warranties, non-disclosure agreements, contracts, liability waivers, insurance agreements, Promotional Discount Agreements, Requests for Proposals, Responses to Requests for Proposal, Memorandums of Understanding, Letters of Interest, usage policies, or copies of informal agreements.

Other documents may include copies of any funding opportunity announcements, grant applications and grantor status/progress reports, and reports for legislative bodies.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,
