Dear Ms. Feldman,

I represent the City of Somerville and write in response to your below public records request dated Sunday, July 21, 2013.

Can you please clarify whether you are seeking 1) documents reflecting the Howard Stein Hudson Report from 2009 (available online at http://www.somervillema.gov/2013unionsqRFP/ or 2) documents regarding the 2013 Union Square Streetscape and Utilities design and engineering work.

Thank you.

From: Community Access Project

Dear City Solicitor David Shapiro,

Thanks very much for your speedy response; and for the link to the Howard Stein Hudson report from 2009.

We are specifically interested in reviewing any transportation-related data regarding performance measures around accessibility such as: whether existing transportation services provide access for underserved populations to employment sites; and, whether existing streetscape conditions are ADA compliant.

If the City has collected any data informing the 2013 Union Square Streetscape and Utilities Project related to such accessibility and economic performance measures, we would be grateful if you would provide such documents in machine-readable format and filled electronically, by email attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the types of responsive documents and the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request.

Thanks again for your prompt initial response and clarification questions. I look forward to receiving your response to this modified request within 10 days, as the statute requires.

best wishes,

Eileen Feldman, Director
