Please consider this our response to your CORA request dated May 13, 2024 and received by our office on May 24, 2024.

Please place a request, and pay the necessary fees for, an Investigation Report online. In the notes section of the request describe the items you are requesting, providing as much detail as possible. You may do so at: www.denvergov.org/policerecords under the Civil Liability section.

Once your request is reviewed you will be contacted with an estimate of research time. Requests that require more than one hour of staff time will result in fees of $33.00/hour. The fee is required to be paid prior to the research being done. Note, that use of, and payment for staff time does not guarantee that some or any responsive documents will be located.

Records of the Denver Police Department are “criminal justice records,” the disclosure of which is governed by the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, CRS 24-72-301, et seq., not the Colorado Open Records Act. Pursuant to CRS 24-72-304(1), the custodian may make “rules and regulations with reference to the inspection of such records as are reasonably necessary for the protection of such records and the prevention of unnecessary interference with the regular discharge of the duties of the custodian or his office.”
