To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Arizona Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

Policies, procedures and/or documents pertaining to indexing for FamilySearch, otherwise known as Intellectual Reserve, Inc., a genealogical non-profit operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) by inmates within facilities run by the Arizona Department of Corrections. This includes any documents regarding Family History Centers operated within such facilities, and any documents referencing LDS Correctional Services, a division of LDS.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.

Sincerely,

Burkely Hermann

From: Department of Corrections

Good morning. The Arizona Department of Corrections does not have any
documents responsive to this request -- none of its prisons are associated
with FamilySearch/LDS Corrections Service.

Sincerely,
ADC Media Relations

Well, thanks for letting me know. I had read in a widely circulated article that FamilySearch might have expanded to Arizona, but I wasn't sure if that had happened or not, so I wanted to see if anything had changed from the time that article was written (in 2015) and the present.

From: Department of Corrections

FYI, there are several federal and private facilities (contracted by other
states to hold their inmates and which are unaffiliated with Arizona
Department of Corrections) within the state, as well as county jail
facilities that could have involvement with the organization and account
for the suggestion..

Well, that is definitely a possibility, which I will explore in the future as well. Thanks for the tip.
