From: John Kirsch
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Copies of all material pertaining to the divorce of Bernard Fensterwald Jr. and Elizabeth Fensterwald. The complainant, Elizabeth Fensterwald, was granted a final decree of divorce from the defendant, Bernard Fensterwald Jr., on Aug. 19, 1965, according to records located in 1984 by the FBI in the files of the Arlington County Circuit Court, Alexandria, Va.
Mr. Fensterwald, who passed away in 1991, was a prominent Washington, D.C. lawyer who investigated the assassination of President Kennedy. I'm the author of a blog on the assassination, jfkresearch.me.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
John Kirsch

Good morning Mr. Kirsch,
Please note, requests for records under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act must be initiated by a citizen of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Unfortunately, we did not receive your August and July emails referenced below. I have processed your request as a regular public record request.
I located the file for Mr. and Mrs. Fensterwald. It is 28 pages and the copy cost is $14.00. We require pre-payment prior to sending the copies, and do not provide records via email or fax. Kindly mail us a $14.00 check or money order made payable to "Clerk of the Court" along with a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Our mailing address is: Clerk of the Circuit Court, Attn: Civil Division, 1425 N. Courthouse Road, Suite 6700, Arlington VA 22201.
Please call or email if you have any other questions. Best,
Christopher J. Falcon

Mr. Falcon,
Thank you for your response.
I live in Mexico City but will be in the States next week. When I'm in the States, could I mail you a check for $14, along with a stamped envelope with MuckRock's address, and have you mail the records to MuckRock?
Thank you,
John Kirsch

Mr. Falcon,
Change in plans. I'm going to have MuckRock, the FOIA-filing service I used to submit my records request to you, send you a check along with the return envelope with postage. For the record, MuckRock has my permission to do this.
Thanks,
John Kirsch
