From: Rachel Premack
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Maine Freedom of Access Act, I hereby request the following records:
I am requesting copies of public records regarding the public funding of commercial drivers' license training programs from 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2022. These programs are designed to prepare students to meet the qualifications to become a qualified entry-level commercial truck driver. Funds for these programs were made available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Specifically, I request information regarding the following:
- Budget documents for the full date range noted above, including planning documents, proposals, and research reports
- Spending reports
- Communications, including internal emails, press releases, and meeting notes and transcripts, that include the phrase "commercial drivers' license"
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by 1 M.R.S.A. § 408(6). The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is not made for commercial usage.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Rachel Premack

Dear Ms. Paré,
Thank you for your assistance on this matter. Does MaineDOT receive any funds through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act that goes towards CDL training?
Best,

Hi,
My request is not in regards to Maine DOT training of DOT employees, but Maine DOT's funding of truck driving training schools in the state. Does MaineDOT oversee any regulations concerning truck driver training schools in the state?
Thank you.
Best,
Rachel
From: Maine Department Of Transportation

MaineDOT does not fund or regulate commercial truck driver training schools in Maine.
Very Truly Yours,
