Re: Open Record Request of February 28, 2019, Reference # R012929-022819
Dear Ms. Mackenzie Farkus,
The City of Austin received a Public Information request from you on February 28, 2019, to request copies of records pertaining to the following: Mackenzie, In order to assist you with this request I need more information. Round Rock has its own Police Department and if it happened in their jurisdiction they would take lead on the investigation. APD can’t locate any investigation it might have participated in.  In other words, it’s possible that APD assisted somehow, but i need more info than what you have provided. Do you know the name of the School this occurred? an address? or a case number? names of anyone involved? You may also want to check with Round Rock Police Department. Until I have more information I will be unable to process this request. I will not work on this request until I hear back. Thanks APD PIO

Hello,

I just remembered that only half of Round Rock ISD is within Austin city limits (Westwood High School, Grisham Middle School, Canyon Vista Middle School, etc.) -- I completely forgot that Austin's city limits borders are a bit odd! I haven't lived there in a while. I'm not sure whose jurisdiction this would be in since this was a district-wide hacking incident, so I'll definitely reach out to Round Rock PD as well.

Attached is an article from the Houston Chronicle about the incident. Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks,
Mackenzie Farkus
