To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

I request any and all materials submitted by poll workers from all 255 precincts in Boston, MA regarding the 2012 general presidential election. All files including but not limited to; (i) the records of the 2012 general election day’s activities as submitted by poll workers from all Boston, MA precincts, (ii) reports related to "spoiled" or otherwise rejected ballots, (iii) any reports of voting machine malfunctions.

I also request any and all training materials used during the mandatory training session for poll workers.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Carly Sitrin

Hi Cathy,

Thank you for following up with me! I would love to save everyone some time and money and view the documents myself at City Hall. Is there a specific time or date that would be best? Additionally, would the documents that have been identified be set aside or would it be possible to obtain an electronic index of the responsive material so that I may access it quickly and efficiently when I arrive onsite? Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Carly,
Could you come in Monday 7/27/15 at 10:30 a.m., Boston City Hall, Room 241?

Unfortunately, the documents are in hard copy form--there is no electronic
database. We will have the books set aside for you to go through. Please
bring with you post-its or paperclips that you can use to mark pages--if
you would like copies of specific pages, you can give us the marked books
and we will copy the requested pages and get them to you within a short
time frame (although not likely the same day). We will charge you for the
photocopies, so please bring a check that you can provide us on that day.

Sincerely,
Cathy

A copy of documents responsive to the request.

Hi Cathy,

I just wanted to quickly follow up on this request. I went in a few weeks ago to look through and set aside some logs to be scanned and emailed and I was just wondering if we've made any headway with those. I had also inquired with Sabino about a processing report for the logs (basically, what happens after the poll workers write things down. Is there a committee that reads these reports and takes any action). Any updates on where we stand with the request would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for all of your help!

Hi Cathy,

I just wanted to follow up with my request and see if the election department received my check. I was also still wondering about the processing report for the logs that Sabino had mentioned. Would this be included in the scanned documents? Thank you again!
