AMAZON BEGINS COLLABORATING WITH SAN YSIDRO SCHOOL DISTRICT

Monday, October 23⋅10:00am – 12:00pm

Our San Ysidro School District Governing Board President, Rosaleah
Pallasigue, our San Ysidro School District Superintendent, Dr. Gina Potter,
and the Women’s Club had the opportunity to tour Amazon’s SAN5, a state of
the art 550k square foot sort center located in Otay Mesa. The mission of
SAN5 is to build a culture and community where everyone is involved and has
the opportunity to grow and develop. The site has helped export talent
throughout the San Diego node and works closely with upstream and
downstream partners to create a true nodal community. Recognized as a
national child-welfare and poverty expert and advocate, Emmy nominated,
best-selling author and speaker, David Ambroz, who is now in charge of
External Affairs Policy at Amazon, welcomed our group to the SAN5 sort
center on Monday, October 23rd. As the head of community engagement for
Amazon, Mr. Ambroz is looking forward to working closely with our San
Ysidro communities and families.

Our San Ysidro School District Communications Specialist, Cristina Inzunza
has had a few conversations with Amazon Operations Manager, Yezid Alvarado,
and Amazon FCT PR Manager for California and Alaska, Natalie Banke, in
regards to our future collaboration, which will include either a monetary
or a book donation to one of our schools. So far, we have received a single
$1,721.46 supply donation from Amazon to our San Ysidro School District.
