Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
- Any records, created on or after June 1st, 2018, pertaining to BART’s investigation of the cost of fare evasion in the BART system. This includes financial costs, social costs, etc.
- Any current policies for BART agents pertaining to fare evasion and handling fare evaders.
- Any records pertaining to BART’s recent fare gate modifications to counter fare evasion, such as adding a second set of fare gate arms, or adding a protruding metal sheet to the fare gate arms. This includes safety assessments, design documents, estimated cost savings, and cost of deployment.
- Any records pertaining to complaints or injuries relating to BART’s recent fare gate modifications.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
