Pursuant to the { California Freedom of Information Act. }, I hereby request the following records:
- A copy of any and all contracts (including associated amendments and exhibits) awarded to Pepsi, Coca-Cola, or any subdivision thereof, for the provision of beverages or other goods in any facilities under the purview of this organization, including all activities and buildings associated with athletics, sports, dining services, or otherwise. If this agency does not have a contract with either of the named companies, please provide the equivalent agreement with the currently employed company.
- If the contract(s) was cancelled, any and all materials related to its cancellation.
- If the contract was cancelled, the statement from the university about cancellation.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

This letter is to acknowledge your written request for documents regarding “…all contracts (including associated amendments and exhibits) awarded to Pepsi, Coca-Cola…” made pursuant to the California Public Records Act (CPRA), Government Code §7920 et seq., and dated January 23, 2023. The appropriate campus office has been notified of your request and a search for the information is underway. All information identified as responsive to your request will be reviewed, and made available for your access, in accordance with relevant law and University policy.
Although the requested records have not yet been fully gathered and reviewed, it is possible that the requested material may contain information exempt from disclosure pursuant to the Public Records Act. However, this is not a determination that the requested records are necessarily exempt from disclosure. The estimated date of production is six weeks. I will provide you with a status update after the requested records have been thoroughly reviewed.

I write to inform you that the search conducted pursuant to your California Public Records Act (CPRA) request dated January 27, 2023, has identified no records as responsive to your request.
UCSF did not locate any contracts with Coca-Cola or Pepsi. Please note that your request for the University to search for subsidiaries and/or equivalent entities is overly broad and does not reasonably identify records. The University would like to assist you with submitting a focused request; therefore, please identify a specific vendor or subdivision, i.e., an “equivalent agreement with the currently employed company.”
If a response from you is not received by February 27, 2023, PRA 023-012 will be considered closed.
