Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all reports related to the compensation of inmates or other prisoners under the jurisdiction of this state for activities related to fighting fires. Please provide all relevant materials for the period from January 1, 2017 through August 15, 2018. Please provide data and details by fire event, if possible, including the number of hours worked and the number of inmates involved.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, CAL FIRE, does not directly compensate inmates or other prisoners for fighting wild fires.

CAL FIRE, does however, have an agreement with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation regarding the use of personnel when fighting fires. Please see the attached agreement.
