Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
I seem to remember a corporation doing business in California, SIMPR (Solano Institute of Medical and Pharmacological Research. I also recall a smaller company name, Placer Research, formed in the aftermath of the Church Committee. The activities of SIMPR led, as I recall, to the enactment of Penal Code § 3500 et al., foundational legislation. Records concerning SIMPR and Placer Research are missing from the New Biz Portal. One wonders how? Accordingly, I request any and all records pertaining to SIMPR and Placer Research, including but not limited to incorporation documents, Articles of Incorporation, annual reports and the like. I would like to archive them in a safer place.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Please note that the entities have not been active for an extended period of time, however, are currently listed in the newly implemented bizfile Online search. If you have difficulty locating records for a business entity in the future, you may wish to use the Advanced Search features and use the "Starts with" search using one or more of the first words in an entity name. However, the records for these long-inactive entities were not imaged prior to migrating to the new bizfile Online system so are not currently available online.
Nonetheless, after a diligent search, we have located 20 pages of records responsive to your request.
These records will be uploaded into the new bizfile Online search in due course.
The California Public Records Act permits the Secretary of State to collect statutory fees for the cost of producing copies of its records, which must be remitted at the time the records are requested or before copies are provided. The statutory fees for reproduction of a plain copies of the records you have requested are $1.00 for the first page, per record. The statutory fees for reproduction of certified copies of the records you have requested are $5.00 for the certification fee, and $1.00 for the first page per record. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are providing the attached plain copies at no charge.
