From: Ansel Halliburton
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code §§ 6250), I hereby request the following records:
Please provide a copy of a petition sent to the California Attorney General in September 1998, which requested that the Attorney General begin proceedings to revoke the corporate charter of Union Oil Company of California (also known as Unocal), as well as any internal correspondence and responses by the Attorney General's office. The petition's primary author was Robert Benson, a professor at Loyola Law School.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Ansel Halliburton

Dear Mr. Halliburton:
This correspondence is in response to your request dated November 22, 2017, which was received by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) on the same date, in which you sought records pursuant to the Public Records Act as set forth in Government Code section 6250 et seq.
Specifically, your request is stated as follows: “Please provide a copy of a petition sent to the California Attorney General in September 1998, which requested that the Attorney General begin proceedings to revoke the corporate charter of Union Oil Company of California (also known as Unocal), as well as any internal correspondence and responses by the Attorney General's office. The petition's primary author was Robert Benson, a professor at Loyola Law School.”
We have conducted a search of the DOJ’s legal indexes, knowledgeable persons, and logical places and have been unable to locate any responsive records.
