From: Dan Nguyen
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:
The database of administrative notices of ordinance violation that have been issued by the Chicago Police Department, from the earliest year (2001 is fine) through the year-to-date. The data format can be the same as it is in the "Ordinance Violations [from the Buildings Department]" dataset that the city of Chicago has already published on its data portal: https://data.cityofchicago.org/Administration-Finance/Ordinance-Violations/6br9-quuz
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Dan Nguyen

Dear Mr. Nguyen:
This is in response to the Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA") request received by the Department of Administrative Hearings via U.S. mail on December 22 for:
The database of administrative notices of ordinance violations that have been issued by the Chicago Police Department, from the earliest year (2001 is fine) through the year-to-date. The data format can be the same as it is in the "Ordinance Violations [from the Buildings Department]" dataset that the city of Chicago has already published on its data portal: http://data.cityofchicago.org/Administration-Finance/Ordinance-Violations/6br9-quuz
Please note that each City department is a "public body" under Section 2 of FOIA, 5 ILCS 140/2(a). A FOIA request must be directed to the department that maintains the records you are seeking.
The Department of Administrative Hearings does not have any documents responsive to your request.
To the extent you consider this a denial of your FOIA request, you have a right of review by the Illinois Attorney General's Public Access Counselor, who can be contacted at 500 S. Second St. Springfield, IL 62706 or by telephone at 217-558-0486. You may also seek judicial review of a denial under 5 ILCS 140/11 of FOIA.
Sincerely,
STEVEN SHEELY
Deputy Director
