Columbus State Community College received your public records request for student directory information on July 8, 2021. You requested "A file containing the university-affiliated email addresses, first and last names of all enrolled Columbus State Community College students as of the Spring 2021 semester."
Generally, students' education records are protected from disclosure pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (34 CFR 99.31). However, Columbus State Community College may provide information that the College has designated as public directory information under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Columbus State Community College has designated the following categories of information about students as public directory information:
* Name
* Address (home/present)
* Telephone Number (home)
* Program of Study/Technology
* Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
* Weight and height of members of athletic teams
* Enrollment status (less than half-time, half-time, part-time, full-time, over full-time, inclusive dates and semesters of enrollment)
* Degrees, certificates, transfer module and awards received (including Dean's List and other honors)
* Most recent previous educational agency or institution attended
* Student.cscc.edu email address for the purposes of electronic proxy and conducting studies on behalf of the college.
Therefore, in response to your public records request, the College would be permitted to provide the following student directory information of Columbus State Community College students enrolled during the Spring 2021 semester:
* Name

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, much of the College's personnel are working remotely, which may cause unexpected delays in locating and providing responsive records. Attached are records responsive to your public records request received by Columbus State Community College on July 8, 2021, for student directory information. The attached is a list of Columbus State student names who were enrolled during the Spring 2021 semester. The attached list does not include the students' email addresses as that is non-directory information as discussed in my previous email and pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 34 C.F.R. 99.31. Also omitted from the attached student directory information list are those students who have opted out of disclosing their directory information and those students who are in the College Credit Plus/dual enrollment program pursuant to FERPA, 20 U.S.C. 1232g(a)(5) and 34 C.F.R. 99.37; sections 149.43(A)(1)(v) and 3319.321(A) of the Ohio Revised Code; and College Policy.
The College now considers this public records request complete; however, feel free to contact me if there are additional records you seek or if you have any questions.
