I would like to ask that the fee for reproduction of these documents be waived as I am an independent citizen researcher requesting documents of public interest related to government operations and intend to publish these documents for the public interest. This request is being done in association with muckrock news - a news organization focused on governmental transparency.
If there is a more formal way to request a fee waiver, I'm happy to follow any previously established routines.
From: Detroit Police Department
Good morning,
We offer a $20 reduction of fees for individuals who are indigent and provide an affidavit stating same. Otherwise, we don't provide fee waivers or fee reduction outside of what is required by the FOIA statute.
Thank you,
