Open Records Requests:

The Open Records Unit will provide information relating to the request, as permissible and applicable by law, within 3 business days after it has been received. If production of requested documents is not possible within that timeframe, the Open Records Unit will issue correspondence with an explanation. If your request is denied in whole or in part, the legal basis for denial will be cited in the response. If production of the requested documents exceeds a fee above $25.00, the requester will be contacted with a pre-retrieval cost estimate prior to fulfilling the request.

Associated Charges:

The first 15 minutes of any response are provided at no cost. Staff time to comply with request will be billed as follows:

Balance of first hour $17.72
Additional hours $23.63 each

Production Fees:

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71(c)(1)...the charge for the search, retrieval, or redaction of records shall not exceed the prorated hourly salary of the lowest paid full-time employee who, in the reasonable discretion of the custodian of the records, has the necessary skill and training to perform the request; provided, however, that no charge shall be made for the first quarter hour. Other fees:
Copies 10¢ per letter or legal-size page
Copies non-standard size actual cost
Off-site retrieval actual cost (off site retrieval could take up to 10 days)
Electronic media actual cost
Other specialized records actual cost - as provided by law.
Certified copies - as provided by law.

Once your response is completed, you will receive directions to pay any charges to release the records.

*Forsyth County residents will receive one copy of their accident or incident report at no cost.*

In accordance with OCGA 50-18-72 Records requests and responses may be subject to disclosure under the State Open Records Act.
