Communications
From: Matthew Petti
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Emails sent to, CC'd to, or sent by Governor Brian Kemp and/or members of his staff containing the non-case-sensitive keystrings "Ossoff" and "Israel" from November 20, 2024 to the date this request is received. If the emails contain any attachments, please contain those attachments as well.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Matthew Petti

To Whom It May Concern:
I wanted to follow up on the following Georgia Open Records Act request, copied below, and originally submitted on Nov. 26, 2024. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.
From: Office of the Governor of Georgia
Good afternoon,
A search performed pasted on the parameters defined in the request below yielded nearly 500 results. Upon initial review, it appears that many of the records captured by this search are mass communications that include one of the key terms you specified.
In order to provide an accurate fee estimate, can you please specify whether you would like these records excluded?
Thank you

To whom this may concern,
Thank you for your follow-up. I would indeed like to exclude mass communications.
Sincerely,
Matthew

Good afternoon,
Upon initially reviewing the communications captured by a search for responsive records, upwards of 75% of records captured were mass communications (i.e. newsletters, press clippings, news clips, etc…).
I am still pulling out the non-mass communications, and I expect to have an estimate regarding the fee associated with the production of records by COB Tuesday December 10, 2024.
Thank you

Good morning,
I had a quick clarification regarding your request.
Were you looking for records that include both the terms “Ossoff” and “Israel.” Or, rather, were you looking for records that included either of the terms.
Thank you

Good afternoon,
A search adjusted to reflect this clarification yielded 228 results.
Upon initial review, almost all of the records captured by the search are mass communications (i.e. press releases, newsletters, and news clippings). The records that are not mass communications are approvals of the daily news clippings prior their office-wide sending and 'Critical Mentions' that track the mentioning of Governor Kemp in media. However, I don't believe these are responsive to the intent of your request.
Please advise.
Thank you and have a good weekend.
