Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Any documents compiled under discovery in the investigation into the fatal shooting of Charles Carter by Vincent Smith, of Pottsboro, Texas.
- The autopsy report for Charles Carter, which was prepared on January 12. Carter was shot in the head on January 11, at a residence in the 500 Block of Center Oaks Road, outside of Pottsboro, belonging to Vincent Smith.
- Recordings made of calls to the 911 number reporting a shooting on January 11, 2016, at around 3:44 pm.
- Arrest sheets pertaining to shooter and homeowner Vincent Smith.
- A copy of any affidavits that Sheriff's Office personnel used to obtain a search warrant for the property where the shooting occurred.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
