To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Hawaii Uniform Information Practices Act, I hereby request the following records:

CAD (dispatch) record, written reports, any audio/video documenting the response to/at the incident location including body-worn and "dashcam", and any videos gathered during the investigation into the incident.

Incident: Nonfatal fall, 18yo victim, fell from a cliff on an illegal hiking trail, required helicopter rescue on 8/16/23, victim Caleb Kjenaas. For reference: https://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2023/08/17/18-year-old-falls-down-cliff-off-white-road-trail/

This request should not be interpreted to encompass any exempt medical records.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment or by utilizing the link below this message.

A previous identical request was denied on 9/8/23 due to the case being active. It was suggested that the request be submitted again in the future to be reconsidered. It has been one month since the denial, so this request is being filed for a reconsideration based on the case's current status.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.

Sincerely,

Patrick Wells

Dear Mr. Wells,

As this time,

I didn't receive an answer from the DOCARE that the case status has been changed. So we don't have disclosure of the record yet, but will let you know once I hear that from the DOCARE.

In the meantime, our staff suggested that you may check with the Hawaii County Fire Department. They may have their own record in this regard.

Thank you.
