To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Documents sufficient to show data regarding specific student violations in which police officers or school resource officers were involved. Please break this data down for each school in the district for the following school years: 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024. If possible, please provide data on the race and sex of the students involved in the above mentioned police incidents. Please also include a data dictionary which defines each offense type listed (i.e. what constitutes “copying,” “terroristic threat,” “insubordination”, and more).

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

e

Thank you.

It's not clear to me if the responsive records are comprehensive of the data that I'm requesting. It appears that the responsive record only notes incidents of arrest. My request did not specify only arrests but all incidents of "student violations in which police officers or school resource officers were involved."

I have received responsive records to this identical request in other districts which contained thousands of data points so I was a little surprised by only having 20 or so data points in the responsive records.

Thanks for your help in clarifying.
