Re: Kansas Open Records Act Request

Dear Ms. Lipton:

On November 22, 2016, the University of Kansas Medical Center ("KUMC") received your letter dated November 11, 2016 in which you request records pursuant to the Kansas Open Records Act ("KORA"). Please note that while your letter was addressed to the University of Kansas Medical Center Police Department, it was forwarded to me for a response as all requests for public records are handled by the campus Records Custodian. Any future KORA requests you might submit to KUMC should follow the procedures outlined in our policy located at: http://policy.ku.edu/kumc/kansas-open-records-act-procedure.

As required by KORA, KUMC is responding to your request within the third business day following its date of receipt.

Your request seeks the following: "Any and all contracts (as well as all associated amendments, exhibits, and materials), memorandums of understanding, and other equivalent agreements entered into by this agency with Geofeedia LLC or any other social media surveillance software or equipment company (including by not limited to Brightplaent, Geofeedia, Intrado Inc., LifeRaft, Magnet Forensics, Media Sonar, Signal Corporation and ZeroFox)." KUMC has reviewed its records and determined that it does not maintain, keep or possess any documents responsive to your request.

With regard to your additional request for "all policies related to the acquisition and use of social media and surveillance software by individual officers and representatives of this agency," please find KUMC policies responsive to your request at the following links: http://policy.ku.edu/chancellor/social-media; http://policy.ku.edu/KUMC/information-resources/social-media.
