From: Michael Best
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to Kentucky Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Records relating to Andrew C. Thornton II (1945–1985), who was a head member of "The Company", a drug smuggling ring in Kentucky. On a smuggling run from Colombia, having dumped packages of cocaine off near Blairsville, Georgia, Thornton jumped from his auto-piloted Cessna 404. In the September 11, 1985 jump, he was caught in his parachute and ended up in a free fall to the ground. His dead body was found in the back yard of Knoxville, Tennessee resident Fred Myers. His death has been widely reported. Thornton served with the Lexington PD from 1968-1977 and on narcotics squad from 1970 to 1973. http://articles.latimes.com/1985-09-12/news/mn-21488_1_cocaine
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Michael Best
