To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Louisiana Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:
1) All records relating that discuss drone(s), sUAS (small unmanned aircraft systems), and any other item classified as a remotely controlled aircraft, multirotor, or helicopter.
These documents may include but are not limited to: guidance, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and internal emails.
2) All records relating to Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office efforts to comply with Federal law preempting local and state law.
3) All records held by LPCO relating to the "shooting down" or attempts at interference with aircraft (including drones) that fall under Title 18 of the United States Code 32, which describes “sabotage to include destruction of any aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.”
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,

Hi Sheriff Rainwater,
I appreciate you getting back to me.
Would it be correct to state that item #1 is contained only in records of incident reports and complaints? To clarify, no other record type (ideally guidance, training, etc) relating to the following keywords exist: drone, helicoper, multirotor, aircraft; (please also search for: suas, part 107).
Item #2 requests all records of LPSO navigating the Federal and State regulatory framework, this includes your efforts to comply with the FAA when operating a drone. I'm also looking for records that detail LPSO's decision making when dealing with "drone offenses." As an example, an email/phone call/text message to obtain guidance whether it be for prosecution or education should be included within item #2.
Finally, I'd like to request these records be delivered electronically in the easiest possible method for you to disseminate them. This allows delivering records in their original file format and organization.
