To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California's Sunshine Amendment (Cal. Const. Art. I, ยง 3(b)), I hereby request the following records:

All data, receipts and reports submitted to the California Attorney General's office specifically for the Attorney General's annual asset forfeiture reports from 2009-2913.

Copies of the Attorney General asset forfeiture reports are posted on the agency's website: http://oag.ca.gov/publications/index. Data for the report is provided by each county's district attorney, according to the report.

I also request that all fees be waived as I am a journalist -- employed by MuckRock and the Boston Globe -- and intend to use any pertinent information I receive as a result of this request to educate the public.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Todd Feathers

Ms. Schneider,

Sorry to keep making a nuisance of myself, I've just got one quick question. In the AG's annual asset forfeiture reports, they break each county down by law enforcement agency (I.e. xx amount was forfeited to the LAPD in this case,. xx amount was forfeited to the LASO int his case). Is there some way to distinguish which agency completed the forfeiture based on the data you were kind enough to provide me?

Thanks so much,
Todd Feathers

From:

Hello, from the previous e-mail who responded to you with the information you requested?

From: Todd Feathers

Penny Schneider answered my request on May 30. She provided me with four spreadsheets -- detailing the asset forfeiture data the LADA submitted to the AG from 2010 to 2013. I'm just trying to clear up a couple inconsistencies with the data.

Please feel free to call me, if that is easier.
