From: Marina Villeneuve
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Arizona Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:
1. Copies of all records provided by your college to Phi Theta Kappa from Jan. 1, 2024 to Sept 20, 2024.
2. Copies of all records provided to your college from Phi Theta Kappa from Jan. 1, 2024 to Sept 20, 2024.
3. Copies of correspondence sent from Phi Theta Kappa to your college president, CEO and/or chancellor from Jan. 1, 2024 to Sept 20, 2024.
4. Copies of all records showing the number of students in the top 10% of their class as of May 1, 2024. If the community college does not collect data about class rank, please state so.
5. Records showing the number of students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa on your campus, and the number of students invited to Phi Theta Kappa over the past year.
6. Copies of all records showing the amount of money your college paid to Phi Theta Kappa from Jan. 1, 2023 to Sept 20, 2024 and for what purposes.
7. Copies of all records showing the amount of money your college received from Phi Theta Kappa from Jan. 1, 2023 to Sept 20, 2024, and for what purposes.
8. Your college's policy for the handling of student data provided to and provided by Phi Theta Kappa.
Context: Phi Theta Kappa in their invitations tells students that they are in the "top 10% of students on your campus." I am trying to ascertain whether that is accurate, whether Phi Theta Kappa receives follow-up information from colleges on student GPA, and how Phi Theta Kappa obtains student personal data, and what kind of data, in the first place.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.
Sincerely,
Marina Villeneuve

Hello,
1. Copies of all records (including records concerning student information, such as lists of students, their contact information, GPA) provided by your college to Phi Theta Kappa from Jan. 1, 2024 to Sept 20, 2024.
2. Copies of all records (including records concerning student information, such as lists of students, their contact information, GPA) provided to your college from Phi Theta Kappa from Jan. 1, 2024 to Sept 20, 2024.
Phi Theta Kappa through its PTK Connect program (https://recruitptk.org/) provides data on students to universities.
Phi Theta Kappa also receives data about students from community colleges. Phi Theta Kappa then uses that data to send invitations to students.
I am looking to see what sort of records that colleges and universities are providing to Phi Theta Kappa, and what records colleges and universities are receiving. I am looking to see, for example, whether Phi Theta Kappa is receiving information about student GPA from colleges.
I can be reached at 617-528-8101 if you'd like to discuss and narrow further.
Sincerely,
Marina Villeneuve

To Whom It May Concern:
I wanted to follow up on the following Arizona Public Records Law request, copied below, and originally submitted on Sept. 25, 2024. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.

Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry. The search for records in response to your
request is still ongoing.
Given the volume and breadth of your request, it involves searching an
email archive system as well as gathering records from ten independently
accredited colleges within the Maricopa Community College District. You
have requested records in 8 broad categories, is there one of the
categories that you would like to prioritize?
We often release records that are voluminous on a roll out basis - for
example releasing them in batches (versus waiting until all documents are
processed). As soon as there are records available for release, we will
let you know.
Kind regards.

Thank you!
If possible, I would like to prioritize #8: Your college's policy for the handling of student data provided to and provided by Phi Theta Kappa.
Sincerely,
Marina Villeneuve
