Dear Kate Silvia,

Yes, those searches will work fine. Because the requested documents will be made available to the general public, I am also asking that the fees be waived.

with thanks,

Dave

From: Department of Correction

Apologies, due to the size and scope of this request we are unable to waive fees. This is 7,638 emails which would need to be searched segregated and redacted.

From: David Weimer

Thanks, I would like to note that, according to the Guide to the Massachusetts Public Records Law (https://www.sec.state.ma.us/pre/prepdf/guide.pdf), fees can only be assessed for redaction when the redaction relates to information specifically or by necessary implication exempted from disclosure by statute. Fees cannot be assessed for redactions relating to other exemptions, such as deliberative process and building security.

with thanks,

Dave

From: Department of Correction

Yes, however CORI redactions are required by exemption (a). All documents need to reviewed in order to apply the exemption as needed.
