First off, I would think there is more FOIA Requests than just the Sheriff's Department. Furthermore, the SO has a FOIA Portal where all their requests should be retained and you are telling me that it takes 43.5 hours for you to log-in to your FOIA Portal and run a report for the time period and submit those Requests as well as any other requests that may have been received. This is 2024, you can't tell me that everything is done manually. Yes, I would like to contest the fee's, that is our right absurd.

Our original estimate was based off the fact that a search of our system indicates that we received approximately 1,750 requests in the specified time frame of 01/01/2024 to 06/17/2024, and we believed we would need approximately 1.5 minutes to manually pull each one. Once contacted, the company providing our open records management system indicated that we can run a report that displays basic information on the requests submitted, including: reference number, create date, request status, customer name, and basic description of public record desired.
According to that company, there . To capture the communications information, the requests will need to be exported one at a time. is no way to run a report that shows all correspondence or communications related to the requests
Additionally, approximately 163 of these 1,750 requests were filled out manually, in-person at our front desk. These handwritten requests were scanned into the online system. Like the communications information, these handwritten requests will need to be exported one at a time.
You can reduce the estimated time and cost to complete your request by withdrawing the portion of your request that was asking for communications related to each request, thereby reducing the need to export each request one at a time. Keep in mind, even if you withdraw the communications portion of your request, the handwritten requests described above will still need to be exported one at a time. The cost estimate for that is option is listed below.
