Hello, Mr. Topper
In response to your request for public records below, Section 119.07(4)(d) of the Florida Statutes specifically provides in pertinent part:
If the nature or volume of public records requested to be inspected or copied pursuant to this subsection is such as to require extensive use of information technology resources or extensive clerical or supervisory assistance by personnel of the agency involved, or both, the agency may charge, in addition to the actual cost of duplication, a special service charge, which shall be reasonable and shall be based on the cost incurred for such extensive use of information technology resources or the labor cost of the personnel providing the service that is actually incurred by the agency or attributable to the agency for the clerical and supervisory assistance required, or both.
Our estimate of the costs in personnel time involved to gather and review the documents for public records exemptions (if any) responsive to your request follows:
Invoice for estimate:
Personnel Services:
20 hours @ $32.15 = $643.00
1 hour/Legal @ $54.10 = $54.10
Duplicating services:
Approximately ___ pages @ $.15 per page = $TBD
Total amount due = $697.10
The Florida Public Records Act authorizes the University to charge .15 cents per copy and a reasonable service charge for the costs incurred due to the extensive personnel time required to gather and produce the records. Our estimate of the costs in personnel time involved in responding to your request is $697.10. As an alternatively, if you want to narrow your search to less amount of times that you would like to have a copy of, the estimate would likely be less. Please be advised that we follow the Governor's guidelines as to when and how much we charge when faced with a voluminous public records request. See https://www.flgov.com/cost-recovery-program/.
Upon receipt of payment in this amount, the University will gather, review and provide the records to you. Please make a check for $697.10 payable to "The Florida International University Board of Trustees" and remit it to our office so that we can proceed with your request.
