From: Erik Peterson
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Oregon Public Records Law, I hereby request the following documents:
A log of public records requests submitted to the Governor's office that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
Erik Peterson

Mr. Peterson,
This e-mail is being sent in response to a public records request from you which was received by the Office of the Oregon Governor on April 7, 2015. Your request seeks: “A log of public records requests submitted to the Governor’s office that lists the date of request, the requester’s name, the requester’s oreganizational [sic] affiliartion [sic], a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like the information for the period from 2004 to present..”
Please note that Oregon’s public records laws do not require that a public body create a public record in response to a public records request. Rather, the public records laws require that the responding agency produce those non-exempt public records that it already owns, uses or has retained.
The below link will provide you with access to those non-exempt public records responsive to your request which the Office of the Governor owns, uses or has retained:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzMvBq_LbaUUVFVMak5lWkJ3MzA/view?usp=sharing
Some material in the enclosed records has been redacted to remove information comprising attorney-client confidential communications (ORS 192.502(9)), and to remove information that would allow a person to disrupt, interfere with or gain unauthorized access to information processing, communication or telecommunications systems (ORS 192.501(23)).
It is possible that previous gubernatorial administrations created additional public records that would be responsive to your request. To the extent this is so, those records are not presently owned by, used by or retained by the Office of the Governor. It is possible that the Oregon State Archivist may have possession of such documents. I have not checked with the State Archivist on this question, and do not know whether any such records exist; I offer this information merely as a possibility that could be pursued should you wish to continue searching for additional records.
With the provision of these public records, I am closing your public records request as satisfied. I will waive all costs and fees generated in the course of producing this response to your request.
