However, under certain circumstances, D.C. Official Code § 2-532(d)(2011) authorizes the District to extend, by ten (10) additional days, the deadline by which it must respond to a FOIA request. One of the circumstances provided by that statute is a case in which the District needs additional time to search for, collect and examine voluminous amounts of records and/or consult with an additional D.C. agency.
