Pursuant to the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 84-712), I hereby request the following records:

Any and all correspondence to or from employees of the Office of the Governor from email addresses with the domain name "@rga.org" and any and all correspondence to or from employees of the Office of the Governor that reference the term "Republican Governors Association" or "RGA." This includes - but is not limited to -- any and all email, invitations, schedules, agendas and/or calendar items. I hereby request such correspondence from 6/1/16 to the present. If you need any clarification on this request, please call me at International Business Times at (646) 867-7100. I am the senior editor for investigations at the publication.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Redactions were made to certain records in order to protect the confidentiality of personal cell phone numbers and private donor data, neither of which are public records in Nebraska.

Thank you for this. I have one question on the redactions: in certain places, it appears that simply the general identity of the donor is redacted? I understand a donor's private info (email/cell phone, etc.) being redacted -- but this looks like you have potentially redacted simply their name. I may, however, be reading that wrong. Can you confirm to me that you have only redacted personal information, but not identities? And if you have redacted identities, can you please explain why?

Dear Mr. Sirota:

I’m writing in response to your follow-up question related to your records request received in our office on October 6, 2016. First, I’d like to apologize for not responding sooner. I thought I had acknowledged your email seeking clarification of the redactions made to the records; however, it appears my response fell through the cracks and was not sent. For that, I am very sorry.

As I mentioned in my October 13th response to your records request, redactions were made in order to protect the confidentiality of personal cell phone numbers and private donor data. The identity of certain individuals were redacted as they are private records of a private organization, which are not public records in Nebraska.
