Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:
The complete case file starting with the identifier 281A-NY-245-269 and all derivative material in the file. All contents of this file are of interest, and should be returned regardless of form number, format or serialization.
Upon information and belief, this file concerns an investigation and prosecution from approximately 1996 to 1998 (both years approximate and inclusive). Subjects of the investigation included members of the Genovese family of Cosa Nostra, leadership of law enforcement unions, and several vendors to the unions.
Records should be released in the public interest which outweighs the privacy concerns. Additionally, there is no forseeable harm in release of the file, as the matters contained within are over 25 years old and either adjudicated or beyond the statute of limitations.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

This is a request for all releasable contents of the case file starting with the identifier 281A-NY-245-269 and all derivative material in the file. All contents of this file are of interest, and should be returned regardless of form number, format or serialization.
Please note that an individual likely to be named in the records, Louis Matarazzo, recently died. An obituary is attached. All references to Louis Matarazzo should be released in the public interest; privacy interests should be assumed to be diminished.
