FOIL: Catalog of Holdings and Library Censorship/Complaint Records (Plainedge Union Free School District)

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:

-Catalog of Holdings for all School Libraries for the year ending 2012
-Catalog of Holdings for all School Libraries for the year ending 2019
-Catalog of Holdings for all School Libraries as of the date this request is fulfilled (2022)
-Copies of all Library material censorship and complaint records, including evaluations by staff, patrons' complaints and record of final decisions, from 1/1/2019 thru the date this request is fulfilled.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

we reiterate that there is no "Library" link on the website you provided.

There is no database of physical books available in your libraries. We will be filing an appeal, the only database is for ebooks and ebook services, this does not include an inventory of your existing catalog. The response provided is non responsive.

I hereby appeal the denial of access regarding my request, which was rejected on May 19th, 2022 and made on March 30, 2022 and sent to:

-Copies of all Library material censorship and complaint records, including evaluations by staff, patrons' complaints and record of final decisions, from 1/1/2019 thru the date this request is fulfilled.

As required by the Freedom of Information Law, the head or governing body of an agency, or whomever is designated to determine appeals, is required to respond within 10 business days of the receipt of an appeal. If the records are denied on appeal, please explain the reasons for the denial fully in writing as required by law.
In addition, please be advised that the Freedom of Information Law directs that all appeals and the determinations that follow be sent to the Committee on Open Government, Department of State, 41 State Street, Albany, New York 12231.
