Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:
I am writing to request access to specific records related to communications between Eric Adams, the current Mayor of New York City, and Governor Kathy Hochul. I am requesting any emails, including any email metadata, sent to or from Eric Adams or Governor Hochul, as well as any emails sent to, from, or copied to other individuals or email addresses, such as CC or BCC recipients. I am requesting the following records under the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL):
Any and all emails sent to or from Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul from January 1, 2022, to the date of the processing of this request, including any email metadata such as the sender, recipient, date, time, and subject line.
Any and all emails sent to, from, or copied to other individuals or email addresses, such as CC or BCC recipients, related to the communications between Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul.
This request is being sent to the following agencies:
The Office of the Mayor of New York City
The Office of the Governor of New York State
As members of the public, we have a right to access these records to gain a better understanding of the communications between the Mayor of New York City and the Governor of New York State.
Please be advised that any attempt to withhold, redact, or destroy information related to this request will result in legal action and complaint. The failure to comply with FOIL is a serious matter and can result in both criminal and civil penalties. Therefore, we strongly urge you to comply with this request in a timely and complete manner.

Matter of John P. v. Whalen, 54 N.Y.2d 89, 96 (1981) (stating that "FOIL expresses this State's strong commitment to open government and public accountability and imposes a broad duty on government to make its records available to the public").
