Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
I am looking for emails and messages posted and received from a “group.io” community. As such please search department records for:
- Any emails where the sender has a @groups.io email address
- emails containing the words “kloving” or “group notification”
Please include any record created after January 1 2020 until todays date.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

The Newport Beach Police Department received your California Public Records Act request on June 16, 2024. This response will serve as the Department’s notice of determination as to whether the request in or part seeks the production of non-exempt, non-privileged, disclosable public records in the possession of the City, pursuant to the California Public Records Act (“Act”) (Gov. Code §§ 7920.000 et seq.).

The responsive records are available on a USB drive, due to the file size I am unable to upload it onto this platform. Please provide a mailing address and I can mail the records directly to you.
Some emails have not been provided in accordance with the following exemption:
Police/Investigative Records: Records of complaints to, or investigations conducted by, or records of intelligence information or security procedures of…any state or local police agency, or any investigatory or security files compiled by any…local agency for correctional, law enforcement, or licensing purposes. (Gov. Code § 7923.600(a))
