Pursuant to North Carolina Public Records Law (G.S. §§ 132-1 through 132-10), I hereby request the following documents:

Any and all databases, spreadsheets, reports, or other consolidated data sets regarding animal control activity within this jurisdiction and any applicable subdivisions for the period from January 1, 2015 through the date this request is processed. Please provide all available segregable information for all removal and/or destruction events, including those conducted by citizens within the jurisdiction. Please include all other available segregable information, including but not limited to, the location of the event, the date of the event, the number and type of creature involved, and any other available data.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

We received the request below, however it appears to be very vague and does not specify what type of records are being requested. Your request does not describe the records sought with sufficient detail to allow any agency employees familiar with the subject area to locate the records. Your request does not adequately describe the records sought, and we would like to request that your provide additional information, including the specifics about the type of records and or subject matter (including dates, locations, etc. , if possible), so that we will be able to identify documents and better process your request.

Based on the wording of your request, it appears general “Animal Control” is housed under animal welfare section of NC Department of Agriculture, and many counties in NC have their own animal control ordinances and local laws. Information about that Agency can be found at http://www.ncagr.gov.

If you’re requesting specific documents of the WRC, we would ask that your provide more information and detail about the specific records being requested, so that employees will be able to identify and locate responsive records.
