Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
A database containing food complaints filed and the responses to those complaints.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Hi Faith,
I'm relatively new in the Public Affairs Division of the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, but there are a couple of other people in the office who will be able to help me track down the info.
If there is a database, I'll certainly pass it along. If there is no open-ended database to search, we technically wouldn't have anything to share with you.
So if there is no database, it may be helpful if you could narrow down the scope of your request. Records of food complaints may be kept in files/printouts/spreadsheets. I'd have to check to find out. So are you looking for a number of complaints over a certain time period, in a certain location, in restaurants, in stores, etc.

Thank you so much for your timely response. To be more specific, I am looking for complaints within the past year (2019-2020) from stores. More specifically, grocery stores but, if possible, I would love broader information regarding stores in general. Also, if possible, I would need the information in a spreadsheet/csv file.

I represent the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and from time to time, assist the department with coordinating public records requests. Brandon has been out of the office and I wanted to respond to your public records request to NCDA&CS dated February 12, 2020.
