To Whom It May Concern:
According to a media report, (http://www.wral.com/perry-threats-thwarted-at-us-open/15234551/) in January of 2014, NC DPS Public Safety Secretary Frank L. Perry, speaking before an oversight committee, said that "some 42 'incidents' of various sorts were prevented by a task force of more than 475 state and local law enforcement officers run by his department, " during the 2014 U.S. Open Golf Tournament. "Over 42 episodes were prevented in Pinehurst that people will never know about, from stalking to environmental groups that wanted to travel even from London to interfere, even with violence," Perry reportedly told the committee.
Pursuant to North Carolina Public Records Law (G.S. §§ 132-1 through 132-10), I hereby request the following documents:
All enforcement actions pertaining to the 2014 US golf tournament held at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina from June 12, 2014 to June 15, 2014. This is to include but not be limited to
1) Records describing the methods employed by your agency in carrying out the enforcement actions;
2) Communications between your agency and local law enforcement agencies regarding the enforcement actions;
3) Records describing specific aspects of the enforcement actions;
4) Records describing incidents where individuals were contacted or arrested during the enforcement actions.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.
Sincerely,
Nick Szuberla (Working Narratives)
