To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the North Carolina Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:
The raw data for all voter registrations since January 1st, 2019 in North Carolina (including name, age, whether they were removed/denied, and party affiliation, etc). If possible, I would like these documents electronically as the raw data. I am requesting these documents for my data-driven journalism class at UNC-Chapel Hill's Hussman School of Media and Journalism. We work in Excel and the data in PDF format is not ideal. If you believe this request does not fit within the definition of public records under NCGS 132, please cite a specific exemption.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.
Sincerely,
Matilda Marshall
