Pursuant to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

The North Charleston Police Department's policies on records retention and maintenance

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 15 business days, as the statute requires.

Hi Caitlin,

Attached please find via pdf attachment the City of North Charleston Police Department's Retention Schedule. The top sheet is the most updated version and it replaces some of the City's older schedules. However, the replaced schedules are still in the second document. For instance, in the old retention schedule (dated 2000), the files named 'Chief's Files' are now Office of Professional Standards files. Hope it's not too confusing.
