RE: PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST of May 31, 2017, Reference # W000816-061217
Dear Dan ,
I am writing in response to your requests for documents under the California Public Records Act (Govt. Code § 6250 et seq.) received by the City on 5/31/2017.
Your request mentioned The records from the Chameleon system used by the city of Palo Alto to manage animal services, including pet license information (pet name, breed, etc), and reports/records relating to calls for services, citations, and bite reports.
This letter is to clarify what information that you are seeking from the City, specifically, please provide a date range of records you are seeking. The California Public Records Act does not require our agency to create a record, or document not normally retained in the normal course of business. Some of the data that you request may, or may not be in an electronic format, or may be exempt from disclosure. Based on your request thus far, in order to comply in full, or in part, computer programming would be necessary to compile and extract the this type of data, therefore, pursuant to California Government Code Section 6253.9(a)(b)(2) you would bear the cost of $107.00 per hour.  Depending on the time frame, and/or if you care to narrow your request, will determine how many hours and the cost you would incur. If you would like for the City to proceed with your public information request, please respond to this letter.  If you have any further questions, please contact Paula Silva, 650.329.2461.
Sincerely,
Lisa Scheff Public Safety Program Manager/Records Police Department
