The County is exercising its rights under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(g) allowing for an extension of the time period in which an OPRA request is due because of a disruption in agency operations. The County will respond to this request by no later than the close of business on March 31, 2025.

Dear Zellie Imani,

The County of Passaic (“County”) is in receipt of your request under the Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”) for a list containing specific information related to eviction notices served in the City of Paterson, New Jersey, between January 2019 and the date of your request, March 9, 2025.
After conducting a search, the County has determined that it is not in possession of any list containing the requested information. Nor does OPRA require the County to create such a record. OPRA does not countenance requests that “would require research and the collection of information from the contents of government records and the creation of new government records setting forth that research and information.” N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(g).
With respect to your request, the County has conferred with its software provider and has determined that it is unable to produce the requested list without performing research and manually collecting and compiling information from the contents of other government records in order to create a new record. As indicated above, the County has no obligation under OPRA to engage in this practice, and is accordingly unable to fulfill your request.
This response does not waive or limit any rights afforded to the County of Passaic under OPRA. All rights afforded under OPRA are expressly reserved.
