From: Josh Chamberlain
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Right to Know Act, I hereby request the following records:
A summary of traffic stops made by Pittsburgh Police between 1/1/20 to present (requested 2/17/23).
I'm not interested in individual traffic stop documents, but an accounting of all stops made during that period. Please provide these in the format in which they are currently stored in your system, which may be a database, spreadsheet, CSV file, or similar.
If any part of this request is denied, please cite the relevant provisions in state law which justify the denial.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Josh Chamberlain

You had previously indicated that it would be completed on March 24, 2023. I wanted to check on the status of my request, and to see if there was a new estimated completion date. You had assigned it reference number #129-01-2023.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.

TrafficStops_2020-2022_RTK129-01-2023
From: Josh Chamberlain
Dear Ms. Hotham,
Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for!
I had one or two followup questions, and was wondering whether you might be able to answer without the need for another RTK request: the PERSON_ID column does not seem to contain any repeating values; this implies the same person was never pulled over twice, or that a person does not have a persistent ID. How are these generated? Is there an officer ID which is not being included?
Sincerely,
Josh
