Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

1. The total number of civilian complaints reported in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 (totals separated by year)
2. The total number of civilian complaints sustained in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 (totals separated by year)

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

The Public Records Unit respectfully extends the time to respond by an additional twenty (20) business days pursuant to Executive Order 20-34 issued by the Governor of Rhode Island on May 15, 2020. Specifically, as a result of the current COVID-19 emergency, the City of Providence has declared a State of Emergency, closed all City buildings, and asked all non-essential employees to refrain from reporting for duty.
