Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

All case documents, including court transcripts, related to any legal proceedings Melanie G. Dupont took part in. Her date of birth is August 19, 1973. She is running for state senate and there is a public interest in ensuring the maximum transparency regarding candidates running for office.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mr. Coates,

A request for court case documents does not fall under Rhode Island's Access to Public Records Act, per Rhode Island General Laws, Chapter 38-2-2(4)(T). While court case documents are generally public, it is up to you to arrange viewing or acquisition of the documents through the court clerk's office. Public PCs are available at the clerk counters to view documents.

As a courtesy to you, I looked up the individual mentioned in your e-mail and I found only one case, an uncontested divorce that was filed and granted in 2012.
